by Emma Lawson, March 2nd 2025

Emma Lawson described in the Sunday Post the Reception at Scottish Parliament, hosted by Louis, Sainsbury, who is supported by Scottish Autism in his home at Appletree Community. The event, 'Coming Home: Community for One' linked with an exhibition two days earlier, sponsored by Dame Jackie Baillie, MSP, the hospitality was funded by the Aiteal Trust, the display of Research findings was done by colleagues at Edinburgh Napier University. The research, available on this website, was a partnership with Louis as Lead Researcher. Louis, his mum and his staff visited the Scottish Parliament twice beforehand, to prepare for the Reception.

The Reception brought together Louis as representative of people with PMLD formerly detained in hospital, parents, carers, researchers, professionals, as well as health and social care professionals to show that somebody with PMLD can live well in community, to show what observing somebody’s human rights looks like.
